Keep a paper calendar on your fridge, and note important things that happen: Special visitors, fun things you did, milestones (first smile), etc. At the end of the month I use it to populate my baby book and keep the calendar in there. We probably won’t understand half of my cryptic/sleep deprived notes, but I think it will help us remember some of those special moments.

One Second Everyday: I am absolutely in love with this app and how we have captured Adeline’s babyhood (Here’s Adeline’s first three months). Some pro tips:

  • Take pictures/videos in landscape (vs. holding your phone as you normally would). That way it will fill the screen. (This is a pet peeve of mine anyway, and an inadvertent consequence of camera smart phones! I’ll get off my soapbox now)
  • Keep your photos set to “live”. These work perfectly for 1 second videos, as they are several seconds in length. So you don’t have to worry about taking videos – snap photos as you regularly would, and they will work for the one second videos. Also, I think live photos are great for babyhood, because they capture the moment better than still.
